After successful completion of Diploma in Computer Engineering, a candidate can seek jobs in Computer Hardware Industry, Computer Service Industry, Consultancy Services, Software Development Industries, Web Designing and publishing, Electronics & Communication Industries, Networking and maintenance industries , mass media etc. or on obtaining a first class can qualify to enter into the second year of degree in Computer / IT Engineering.
A candidate should have passed Secondary School Certificate Examination (Std X) or any other equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate in one and the same sitting.
The duration of course is three years (six semesters).
The maximum intake capacity is 40 seats.
The course has been designed in such a manner that the student gains insight into Computer Engineering which is a perfect blend of computer software and hardware.
The course features core subjects in programming; computer hardware; networking and Security along withÂ advanced areas like: Mobile application development, Embedded System Design, Cyber Law and Computer Forensics, Internet of Things (IOT), Python Programming, Data Science etc.
The course also includes an industry training component in the final year, which aims at providing supervised practical industrial training, to make the students industry-ready engineers after completion of Diploma.
Prospects for Higher Education / Career advancement
On completion of 3 year Diploma in Computer Engineering:
1. A student qualifying in first division is eligible for admission to second year of degree in Computer / IT Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering.) in Engineering colleges within Goa.
2. A student is eligible for admission to second year of degree in Computer / IT Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering.) in other States as per prevailing rules of the respective State.
3. In case of a candidate passing with Second class, he / she could get his/her degree in Engineering. through AMIE (Associate Membership In Institute of Engineers) which can even be pursued as an evening / part time basis.
4. The avenue is open even for higher studies abroad.
