INTRODUCTION

Mechanical Engineering is regarded as the evergreen branch of Engineering. For efficient running of Manufacturing, Service, Hospitality Industries Mechanical Engineers play a leading role. Hence the demand for well trained Mechanical Engineer is always high in the Industrial Market. After successful completion of Diploma in Mechanical Engineer a student can take jobs in various industries in Maintenance, Production & Quality control department. He / She can also take the jobs in sales & marketing of Technical products. He / she can also play very important role in installation and commissioning of various mechanical equipments and machineries.

A student after completing diploma can also continue with higher studies by taking entry directly to 2nd year of Degree in Engineering on merit. He / she can pursue his maritime studies, can do post diploma in demand driven courses. A student can also pass AMIE while working.

ELIGIBILITY

Student seeking admission to this course is eligible if:

i. He has passed S.S.C. Examination of the Goa Board or Central board of Secondary Education, New Delhi or equivalent in one and the same sitting.

ii. Secured 50% marks in aggregate at S.S.C. for General category and 45% marks in aggregate for SC / ST / OBC category.

COURSE DURATION

The duration of course is three years (six semesters).

INTAKE CAPACITY

Approved intake capacity as per AICTE is 40 seats.

COURSE CONTENT

Mechanical Engineering Industry is a vast industry which demands for varied knowledge in Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Thermal engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Electrical & Electronics fundamentals, Measurement Technology, Industrial & Production engineering, Refrigeration & air-conditioning engineering, Automotive engineering, Tool Design, CAD/CAM, etc. This course is designed in such a way that students are made acquainted with the important concepts and aspects of these subjects either through theory or practicals.

More stress is laid on the practical aspect i.e. imparting technical skills to the students through practicals in workshop, machine shop, CAD / CAM laboratories, heat power, fluid machinery, metrology & quality control, material testing laboratories.

Students are also required to fabricate the project in final semester by making use of the knowledge that they acquire in previous semester.
Full course is aimed at making a engineer confident enough to do his job with right attitude & committed to work hard.
